About scoring and folding a carton model.
This page coYontains both a video and text tutorial
The text is included in case you want to print this information.
If you click on the image to the left you will be taken to a video that shows the complete process of building a card model.
Now lets look at this in text.
On your plan there are dark lines within the model and then some that extend outside the model. You must score the lines in the model.
The score makes it easy to get a good sharp fold on the building corners and glue tabs.
Line a straight edge up on the lines and gently drag it along a line. Depending on what scoring tool you use, you may have to run the tool over the line a couple times.
But before you do this on your model, practice on a piece of scrap. Score and fold until you get good results. Then go back to your model.
Once the model is completely scored, cut it from the card on which it is mounted.
Now you can fold.
If you are using cereal box backing, you can simply fold it with your fingers.
With a heavier card, you may have to fold around a straight edge.
Lay the straight edge over the folds and carefully lift one side of the fold until it is vertical.
Rub the fold with a coffee stick or whatever to make it square and firm.
